Constitution of the ENTUK Head and Neck Committee

Name The name shall be the ENTUK Head and Neck Committee of the Council of ENTUK
   
Reporting Relationship The Committee will report to the Council of ENTUK and, with the agreement of Council, it will also report its work through the ENTUK Newsletter and in the Annual Report
   
Aims

To promote the highest standards of medical and surgical practice within benign and malignant head and neck disease for the benefit of patients

To support & encourage education, research, development & audit in ENT and head and neck surgery

To advise Council on all head and neck matters within the Specialty"

   
Chairman

The Chairman, who will not necessarily be a Member of Council, shall be elected by Members of ENTUK H & N and approved by Council and will serve, in the first instance, for three years, and may be re-appointed for a further three years, with a maximum of six years in succession

A Deputy Chairman shall be elected from within the ENTUK H & N Committee and will take the Chair in the absence of the Chairman

Secretary

The Committee shall elect one of its Members to serve as Secretary who shall Minute meetings and, in liaison with the ENTUK secretariat, draft Agendas and supporting papers for meetings

   
Membership

The Chairman, elected as above

Other members of the Committee shall be nominated and elected by the membership of ENTUK H & N. Members shall have a three year tenure, renewable for a further three years, with a maximum of six years in succession and will not be eligible for re-election for a further two years

Members should attend 2/3 of the meetings in any one year in order to maintain tenure

   
Co-option The Committee shall have the power to co-opt members to assist its work
   
Servicing of the Committee The administrative staff of ENTUK, in liaison with the Secretary, shall support the work of the Committee
   
Frequency of meetings The frequency of meetings will be decided by the Committee and will normally be timed to link with other meetings of ENTUK with which Members of the Committee might be involved
